Rehome update with new dates announced
Rehome news and an update.
Yesterday saw 2 barns emptied with almost 3400 hens in their new retirement homes.
This is a special little girl who was found when the Aylesford team unloaded the hens from the crates. This is known as a cross beak or as the volunteers call them a “wonky hen” (they are very popular amongst the farm team who spot them). This will have happened as a result of a birth defect, she has survived 18 months already and will continue to thrive.
A couple of more dates have been announced on the website including a few collection points that have not been open for a little while. More collection points are due to be added this week.

August update & homes urgently needed for September
August has been a continuation of a busy summer for Fresh Start for Hens.
Hens need our help to be rescued and FSFH has risen to the challenge.
Rehomes events have been taking place every week across England & Wales since the 17th July and they are set to continue weekly until November! This is where we need your help!
Three dates are currently taking reservations which are 4th, 11th & 18th September from the following collection points;
Daventry (18th September)
4 new dates for July & August!
1500 hens are still looking for homes next Saturday – can you help?
URGENT APPEAL – 1000 hens without homes!
End to Flockdown & Mega May Madness – 6k in one day!
The sun is shining, the days are getting longer and with flockdown coming to an end there is a real buzz amongst all our volunteers at Fresh Start For Hens!
Three new dates have been announced for May including our largest rehome in a single day.
We will be rehoming 5500 free range organic hens from our friends at The Macs farm on the 8th & 15th May. These hens are very popular and if you would prefer to reserve some of these girls please add a note when you are reserving.
22nd May will be our biggest single rehoming in one day! 6k in one day! The fantastic volunteers will be catching, transporting and rehoming these girls in one single day.
There is a good spread of collection points across England and Wales and may be able to open a couple more sites in the next couple of weeks. The collection points open for our May dates plus for a limited number on the 17th April are listed below;
Reading (8th & 22nd May)
